InMarket Take Our Kids To Work Day

Take Our Kids To Work Day is an annual program run by The Learning Partnership  that encourages grade 9 students to spend a day in the working world. Students across Canada visit workplaces of parents, relatives, or friends and get to explore potential careers.

InMarket hosted its first Take Our Kids To Work Day at our office in Richmond Hill for three grade niners. Throughout the day, the students were introduced to advertising sales, social media marketing and graphic design.

The day began with a managers meeting in the board room where the grade niners learned about advertising, marketing and the publications we represent; The Toronto Star and The Economist in Canada.

The grade niners were asked to be Social Media Specialists for the day and document their experience with pictures that were shared to social media.

Our junior team took a crash course in graphic design taught by our Creative Services team.

They even got to design retail advertisements for The Toronto Star.

They got to experience the best part of the marketing profession, the business lunch!

For their final activity, the grade niners experienced two hours in the life of a Media Disk Jockey (otherwise known as a sales assistant). They searched online databases to validate lead information.

It was a wonderful having the grade niners for the day. Thank you to the students and staff that participated.
